Brace for incoming!

New York Mayor Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Menino have teamed up to create a SuperBowl ad pushing the Mayors Against Illegal Guns organization and their agenda to declare all personally owned firearms as illegal and have them banned (although they’re not honest enough to declare that as their intent).

They claim that over 600 mayors across the country side with them.

Anyone have an idea how many mayors there are in this country? The 2010 Census data shows there are 1,931,038 cities and towns in the US.

Assuming "over 600" also means "fewer than 700" mayors are listed as supporting MAIG, and even assuming all the mayors on his list actually understood what they were supporting when signing up (known to be false in several cases), that works out to about 0.036% of cities and towns.

Do a third of one tenth of one percent of mayors really deserve the attention of millions of SuperBowl fans?

Likely not, but that won't change the media's emphasis on this.

The biggest lie in the entire ad is just zipped by at the start...these two mayors support the Second Amendment? Oh, please! What part of "shall not be infringed" applies in New York and Boston, mayors?

Just a heads up for your SuperBowl parties this weekend - have some facts ready! While you're at it, post some comments on their YouTube video of the ad to let them and others know we're not buying their schtick...

On a happier note, many of our classes have filled already for the first quarter of 2012. We're really glad to see so many people looking to get training - from First Shots through Advanced Handgun!

In particular, we had no available slots for First Shots until mid-March. We hate to make people wait when they're looking to get started! Enter a THIRD First Shots class in February - Saturday morning, Feb 18, 9AM-Noon. We added that class late in January, and it's already over half full! Of course, that also means the range will be closed that day from about 10:30-11:30, but will reopen as soon as we're finished in the range and move back to the classroom.

Jeff and Mark will be on the air this week from the HomeWorld Show at the Airport Expo center, so come out and join us there!

We will off the air next week as Dayton Flyer Basketball takes over the time slot, but we will also be up at the Second Amendment Freedom Conference in Dublin, OH. If you haven't heard about that event, it's not too late to sign up.
