T3 League member Mel Wisler

A quick note about one of our league members. Mel Wisler hasn't been around much lately, but he still has stopped by when he could. Mel has had a bad heart for a while, had much work done, had a pacemaker/ICD, etc., but had been on the transplant list for a while. He was admitted into Cleveland Clinic after the holidays to prep for his donor heart. It came sooner than expected. Early indications are that it was in God’s plan. Mel’s wife Vicki says he underwent heart transplant surgery this past weekend and is doing very well in the early stages of his recovery. Please continue to pray for Mel’s continued recovery, and we will keep you updated as we hear about his progress. We will take up a donation at league next week and send him something special.

League Work Night - Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came out to help with the work day this week! We have some great new props to use for stage setup. Next year will doubtless see more diabolical courses of fire than anything to this point!

Tickets for the league Christmas Party are going fast. Be sure to get your tickets next time you're at the range. Price for the feast is $17.50 per person, cash or check. Capacity is 75, so once they're gone, it's too late.

T3 League Christmas Party and other news

The League Christmas party will be held on Tuesday, December 20, at Mama DiSalvo's Restaurant on Stroop Road in Kettering. A cash bar will open at 6:30 with dinner being served at 7:00. This will be a buffet style dinner with calamari, meatballs and sausage, dinner salad and bread, lasagna, penne pomodori, and cannoli. Price for the banquet is only $17.50/person! Spouse or guest is also invited. Door prizes will be included!

If you would like to attend (and we hope everyone does - Mama DiSalvo's has GREAT food!), RSVP to Jeff at jpedro@sim-trainer.com or his cell phone at 937-269-6991 as soon as possible. Tickets are available at the range starting Dec 1. Everyone needs to purchase tickets by Sunday, Dec 18, but there is room for only 75 to attend - don't wait until the last day to purchase tickets.

Next Tuesday (Dec 6) will be a league work day. Bring tools to work on target stands and other league toys. If you don't have tools to bring, come with some good ideas or just be willing to help out! After the work day, we'll take a few weeks off. The next league shoot will be Jan 3, 2012.

Last year, we did something a little different on the spur of the moment, but it was a great success, so we'll do it again this year. Christmas Eve is on Saturday this year. The range is normally closed but will be open this year from 9AM-1PM. We will be having a Christmas Eve Firearms Sale - all new and used guns in stock will be priced to move! The range will close at 1:00 - be sure to tune in at 2:00 for the Shootin' from the Hip Christmas Special! (Okay, it's just our regular show...on Christmas Eve.)

Fun Shoot this week! (corrected copy)

With the Autumn league completed last week, we will have a Thanksgiving Fun Shoot this week, Tuesday, Nov 22. December 6 will be a league work night for all who can attend. Bring some power tools if you have them...could be useful! There is a Concealed Carry class the following week, so we'll be out on Dec 13. Reserve Dec 20 for a league Christmas Party - Jeff is still making final arrangements. We will restart with the Winter League on January 3, 2012.

If you aren't signed up for the regular range membership email, you might want to check out the latest one regarding the Black Friday Sale coming up the day after Thanksgiving, Nov 22. Some great deals will be available.

Top Shot Finale Party after Halloween Fun Shoot

It seems like only yesterday we were gathering in the wide-screen theater at the Audio, Etc. Crazy Cool Showroom to watch the finale of Top Shot Season Two, and yet here we are again. Finale for Season Three is Tuesday, October 25. The gracious host of last year's shindig, Kirby Gaboury, has again invited us over to watch as the Final Four contestants battle it out through three challenges to name this year's winner of the title "History's Top Shot." You really don't want to miss this - everyone had a great time last year!

So this coming Tuesday, get your best "spook" on and head on over to the range for our Costumed Halloween Fun Shoot starting around 5:30 PM. After that finishes up, caravan on over to Audio, Etc. from then until Midnight to continue the festivities with pizza, drinks, and the finale of Top Shot!

End of Summer League

Springfield Armory X-TREME TEST DRIVE at SimTrainer

Springfield Armory has announced a special promotion for their XD and XD(M) "X-TREME" series handguns. SimTrainer is one of the ranges selected to host the promotion to try these handguns, including the Competition Series XD(M) 5.25 pistol, for only $10.

Next League starts this week

A quick note to T3 League participants - the next league starts Tuesday this week, Jan 11.

However, with 3-5" of snow predicted by league start, it's possible that we will need to cancel. The web site will be updated with info as soon as a decision is made to cancel league, if that happens. You can also call the range phone number at 293-3914 and press 2 for announcements.

T3 League Christmas Party

In case you missed it, the Fall league ended last Tuesday with completely new and different reactive target courses of fire. Something tells me we will see those bad guys again in 2011! There will be no more league shoots for the rest of 2010.

The League Christmas party will be held on Tuesday December 21 at Mama DiSalvo's Restaurant on Stroop Road in Kettering from 6pm until we are done. This will be a buffet style dinner with calamari, meatballs and sausage, dinner salad and bread, lasagna, penne pomodori, cannoli, and door prizes. Price for the banquet is only $15! League Week 2 - with food!

If you remember, last week we announced that there would be a snack wagon at the range for the league kickoff. The general consensus was that it was good eats! It worked well for the operator, too. He will be back this week, and will also be adding PULLED PORK to the menu.

Come hungry!

We will be off next week to allow the Concealed Carry class to have the range for their qualification course of fire, then be back on Aug 17 for Summer League Week 3.

Special Start to Summer League!!

As announced earlier, the summer league starts this Tuesday, July 27. To kick things off with something a little different, come hungry! There will be a snack wagon there with hot dogs, Polish sausage, pulled pork barbecue, and other summer picnic favorites. Jeff sampled some of the product and has granted the SimTrainer Seal of Approval for good eats! If this goes well, we may well find this wagon showing up to other events. So, this week, plan on dinner at the range!

Current schedule calls for the league to meet for a couple weeks, then a night off on Aug 10 for Concealed Carry class. The league will run weekly from Aug 17 through the end of September. At least that's the current plan...
